EON Berhad (“EON”) recently launched a collaboration with SOLS Foundation to bring clean, renewable energy to Orang Asli communities in Rompin, Pahang with the use of solar panels.
“At EON, we believe that our success is closely linked to the well-being of our communities. Through initiatives such as this, we are driving positive change by creating new opportunities and improving the quality of life within deserving communities,” said Akkbar Danial, Chief Executive Officer of EON, a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Berhad.
Akkbar further elaborated that through the installation of solar panels, the project would help ensure constant electricity supply for the community in Kampung Binjai, Rompin. This would in turn foster better living conditions and improve education efforts, while stimulating the local economy.
A signing ceremony was held at EON’s headquarters at Glenmarie today, which saw Akkbar hand over 33 solar panels to SOLS Foundation, to be transported and installed at Kampung Binjai, Rompin, Pahang.
The project is part of EON’s ongoing "Wheels of Hope 2.0" initiative. Through this, the company hopes to drive empowerment and enable activities which will help advance sustainability goals.
“We hope to continue exploring new ways to support our local communities, including with SOLS Foundation. Today’s handover of the solar panels adds to our efforts in creating sustainable impact. Together, we are making a difference — one solar panel at a time,” Akkbar added.
Carried out in collaboration with SOLS Foundation a non-profit organization, registered in Malaysia with the mission to serve, educate & empower the bottom 40% of the population with FREE education, personal development, employment support and energy access for rural Orang Asli and Orang Asal (indigenous) communities., the project also aligns with EON’s broader mission of promoting circular economy, sustainable energy solutions and reducing the country’s carbon footprint.
